Awareness and Social Media

Social Media Connects Us

Social media has offered us all ways to connect with one another. It allowed friends to connect across almost unimaginable distances.

However, it also massively disconnects us. That’s because of how impersonal it is and lacking context.

A year of impersonal Awareness

Most of us, over the last year plus, have had naught but online contact via social media. That’s also included Zoom, Skype, GoToMeeting, and other virtual formats. This, however, has created new problems we’re barely recognizing.

Social media disconnects us

The problem is that social media lacks body language. It also lacks intent, and context. It’s a combination of intentional and unintentional gestures that complicated our interactions.

We may be connected to one another – but we are not connecting beyond a superficial level.

Being aware of this is how we alter is. We get to choose how we interact online. And just like thinking before you speak, it’s super important to think before you post!
